Aquariums
We manufacture custom acrylic aquariums as well as wet & dry filters, overflow boxes and aquarium dividers for public aquariums and professional installers. For the aquarium viewing surfaces we use clear cell cast acrylic, for other components we use black, blue or green acrylic to suit the application. We will also travel throughout the world to refurbish existing aquariums, polishing & buffing the viewing surfaces to remove scuffs and scratches.
When considering an acrylic aquarium over a glass aquarium:
- Acrylic is half the weight of glass so for larger tanks, say over 150 gallons, the weight savings of acrylic becomes significant.
- Acrylic is much more easily fashioned into unique custom shapes therefore for tanks with curved surfaces i.e. round tanks or those with domed viewing ports, acrylic is the only viable option.
- Acrylic is optically clearer, as it does not have the iron content that imparts the green tinge in glass, allowing for superior light & color transmission allowing one to view the aquarium life in its true natural colors.
- Even though acrylic is somewhat more easily scratched than glass, generally scratches in acrylic surfaces can be removed, whereas scratches in glass are all but impossible to remove.
